What it is

Natasha's Law (Food Information (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2021) requires all Pre-Packaged for Direct Sale (PPDS) foods to carry a full ingredients list with allergens emphasised in bold. PPDS food is anything made on premises and packaged before the customer selects it — sandwiches, wraps, salads, cakes, pastries and more.

Why it matters

Natasha Allen died in 2016 after eating a PPDS baguette that did not declare sesame as an ingredient. Natasha's Law came into force in October 2021 to prevent this happening again.
