Kitchen Date Labelling

Digital day-dot system — no more mystery containers

Log prepared food with shelf life, auto-calculate use-by times, receive push alerts when labels expire. UK day-dot colour system built in.

What it is

The UK day-dot date labelling system is a legal best practice and a core element of the SFBB system. It ensures that prepared food is never used past its safe use-by time. Yumee digitises the entire process — replacing handwritten labels on containers with a digital log that auto-expires and alerts staff when food needs to be discarded.

How it works

1

Log prepared food

Enter the food name, who prepared it, and the shelf life in hours. Use-by time is calculated automatically.

2

Assign day-dot colour

The UK day-dot colour for the day of the week is shown automatically.

3

View active labels

See all active labels for today — organised by storage location with time remaining shown.

4

Receive expiry alerts

When a label reaches its use-by time, a push notification alerts the relevant staff member.

5

Mark as used or discard

Mark food as used or discarded. Discarded food is logged automatically for the food waste audit trail.

Why it matters

Mislabelled or unlabelled food in a commercial kitchen is a critical food safety risk. EHOs check date labels on every inspection — finding a container without a label or with an expired label is an immediate flag. Yumee's digital system ensures nothing is missed.
